Kick off weekend fun in Pontiac with classic car cruise

Your weekend fun begins on Friday.

The Pontiac Downtown Business Association invites all classic car enthusiasts to the weekly Cruisers ’n’ the Loop within historic downtown Pontiac.

Free reserved event parking for cruisers is provided along Saginaw Street, with assistance in parking your classic provided by business association volunteers.

The Friday cruises are from 5 p.m. until dusk through Sept. 14, with pedestrians invited to view and talk with the classics’ owners and other enthusiasts.

“Our classic car events are a great way for classic car fans to spend a Friday night,” said Maureen Young, downtown business association board member.

Whether you drive and park your classic; take a pedestrian stroll to view the classics; or join the volunteer staff, the business association wants you to enjoy downtown Pontiac’s friendly atmosphere.

Bo’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, 51 N. Saginaw St., provides a home for this weekly cruiser/pedestrian event which includes our DJ Dave Coleman and oldies music; photo-boards of past participants; door prizes; 50/50 raffle; and plenty of great cars and conversation.

A “Cruiser of the Week” is selected and introduced by members of the Pontiac City Council.
