Books: ’40 Ford: evolution – design, racing, hot rodding
Joseph Cabadas’ new book, ’40 Ford: Evolution – Design – Racing – Hot Rodding highlights, “the last of a generation of fairly compact, speedy cars that started with the 1934 Ford.”
Much more than a book about the “Fabulous 40 Ford,” as it was called in advertising, Cabadas’ book is a historical document developed from the archives of The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich., which tells the story of the nation’s mood when it was recovering from one crisis and about to move forward into war.
The book shows the cars leading up to the historic 1940 model as well as the cars that influenced it and includes a treasure chest of historical pictorial documentation, including 163 rare black and white and 26 color photos.
The $35, 160-page book is published by Motorbooks, a division of Quayside Publishing Group in Minneapolis. For more information, visit www.motorbooks.com.
